Kenny Harris and Judy Nimtz

Following his Residency at Borgo Finocchieto, noted Los Angeles painter Kenny Harris continues his series of national exhibitions with a new body of work based on a recent trip to China.  He has been an active part of the Los Angeles figurative painting community, teaching at Laguna College of Art and Design, and exhibiting at some of the most prominent galleries in LA and New York.

Fresh from her well-received first solo-show in Los Angeles, the Residency at Borgo Finocchieto gave Judy Nimtz new inspiration for her ongoing interest in plein-air.  She is currently at work on a new series of portraits, figures and landscapes inspired from China.  Her Chinese heritage drew her to her homeland, and she is incorporating Guilin mist into her new landscapes, and Chinese silk into her new figures.

Kenny and Judy have working in parallel since 2009, embarking on painting trips to Istanbul, Normandy, Italy, and China.  Judy is known for her solitary and sometimes haunting figures, while Kenny focuses primarily on interiors and cityscapes.

"We had an inspirational and productive residency at Borgo Finocchieto.

What struck us were two things: the pervasive feeling of calm as well as the immediate sense of comfort and familiarity. It made us feel as if it were our temporary home, studio, and respite from the world. This enabled us to engage in our artistic pursuits daily, the only challenge being how to narrow down the subject matter around us!"
